About Us

Timberworks Inc. was established in 2013 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Deninu K’ue First Nation and the Fort Resolution Metis Council. Timberworks is overseen by a six-person Board of Directors that were appointed by Deninu K’ue and Metis Council. The Board is responsible for the overall stewardship of the business and the delegation of authorities to management. In February of 2014 Timberworks entered into a FMA with the GNWT. This business plan describes the nature of the timber supply as well as the main tasks and activities involved in the core operations for Timberworks. It further identifies the business opportunity. Required capital investments and human resource requirements. Timberworks have developed a five year plan for harvesting. In this harvesting period, Timberworks’ will provide basic woodlands administration services including operational planning, fields layout of annual harvest areas, reporting and other support requirements. One of the main objectives for Timberworks is to provide economic development and employment opportunities for the Metis Council and Deninu K’ue of Fort Resolution. Over time Timberworks also plans to become more involved in the timber harvesting business.
